Louis XV Style Carved Beech Foot Stool, c.1900 The LibraryA late 19th century early 20th century carved beech stool in the Louis XV style, c. 1900. The waisted rectangular seat has a rough stuffed hessian seat raised upon carved cabriole supports terminating in peg feet. Historic tack marks from previous upholstery visible to the edges. Attractive in its present condition, yet ready for re upholstery if preferred. Small tear to the underside material and some light where to extremities commensurate with age.

There is some light fraying to the sink lining and a very small chip to the back near the right hinge (please see photographs)

The trough is fully covered in a tan leather with stud detailing to all edges

some splits to the wood in areas and evidence of historic repairs to the girandoles (please see photographs)

Collection in person is welcome by prior arrangement

Klein later utilised the mask as the basis of his commissioned bust

and South Molton post office which still bears a commemorative tablet with his name to this day

There is some light shelf wear

giving a larger interior compartment and is of wonderful smaller proportions making it the perfect option for practical storage in a limited space

but it was celebrated as a supremely beautiful representation of the human body in complex action
